The prosecution told the court that accused Shanaf had killed Adil over a land dispute in Parthanwala Village two years back. However, the police arrested the accused and presented the challan in the court. After hearing arguments, the judge awarded death sentence to the accused and ordered him to pay Rs200,000 compensation money to the heirs of the deceased.
The convict would have to spend six more months in jail in case of non-payment of the compensation amount. The court, however, acquitted five co-accused for lack of evidence against them.
Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ikramul Haq Chaudhry sentenced a drug seller to four years jail term and imposed a fine of Rs9,000.
