IGP orders intensification of combing, search operations across Punjab

LAHORE: A high-level meeting to review security arrangement for the Pakistan Super League final was held at the Central Police Office Lahore on Tuesday.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Mushtaq Sukhera ordered to intensify search and combing operations across province and stressed over the need to conduct such operations on a daily basis in sensitive areas.

He further said that a security plan for PSL final was drafted in coordination with other security institutions.

Sukhera asked Lahore Police to focus on search and combing operations and directed the SPs to supervise the operations in the areas around Qaddafi Stadium. “During such operations, it must be ensured that minimum nuisance is caused to the public,” he added.

He ordered to beef up security for mosques, imambargahs and places of worship of minorities and asked that the CCTV cameras should be installed and other security measures, including raising the boundary walls should be ensured.

Meanwhile, Lahore Police issued a parking plan for final.

According to the plan, parking will be at least 1,000 metres away from Qaddafi Stadium. Duppata Gali, Jam-e-Shirin Park, Tariq Road, Muslim Town Bridge, PCSIR Ground, Liberty Ground have been specified as parking areas.

PSL3 final

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Tuesday said that the final of the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held in Karachi.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the VIP enclosure at the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where arrangements are being made to host PSL’s final.

“After Lahore, PSL3 final will be held in Karachi,” said Shaharyar before adding that the VIP enclosure is a gift by the PCB to PSL.
