NEPRA allows tariff hike for three distribution firms

Provincial govts insist that this ‘unconstitutional body’ should be dissolved forthwith.

ISLAMABAD:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has allowed three power generation and distribution companies an increase in tariffs by up to Rs2 per unit, due to rising furnace oil prices.

A copy of the decision has been forwarded to the government for issuance of a notification. As a result of this decision, the Northern Power Generation Company will increase tariff by 76 paisa per unit for its Gulf Rental Power Plant, Rs1.13 for units one, two and three in Muzaffarabad, Rs1.12 for unit four and Rs1.28 for units five and six.


The Central Power Generation Company will increase electricity tariff for Guddu units three and four by up to Rs2 for every unit. Additionally, Jamshoro Power Generation Company will increase electricity tariff for unit one by Rs1.14 and units two, three and four by Rs1.03.
