Standing Committee: Development budget for PC approved

During the meeting MNA Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal stressed the need to bring drastic reforms in the country’s health sector

ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform approved a development budget of Rs6.179 billion proposed by the Planning Commission of Pakistan for the next fiscal year 2017-18. The committee was informed that 33 development projects of the planning ministry worth Rs28.66 billion were in progress and their estimated expenditure up to June this year was Rs8 billion. During the meeting, MNA Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal stressed the need to bring drastic reforms in the country’s health sector, saying that he had already requested the health ministry in that regard but he did not receive any reply from the ministry. Meanwhile, communication ministry officials informed the committee that work on the western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was in progress.
