“Terrorists fire from across the border in Mangrotai, South Waziristan Agency. Pakistani soldier injured,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced in a statement.
The injured soldier was shifted to a medical facility at Wana.
“Army troops effectively responded to suspected terrorists hideouts on Pak -Afghan border,” the military’s media wing said.
Army mounts new nationwide offensive
Pakistan has been hit by a series of suicide bomb attacks in recent days, claiming more than 100 lives.
In response, Pakistan Army launched a countrywide crackdown, Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. It also closed the Torkham border crossing, accusing Afghanistan of harbouring the militants who carried out the attacks.
