The All Pakistan Beauty Contest for Cows in Faisalabad on Wednesday was a great success.
Hundreds of farmers and breeders paraded their animals before a panel of judges.
The event was a part of the Faisalabad Agriculture University’s golden jubilee celebrations. It featured pure breed Sahiwal, as well as mixed breed cows and Neeli Ravi buffaloes. A panel of experts from the UAF and from the Lahore University Veterinary of Animal Sciences (UVAS) judged the animals.
The parade was also watched by a large audience. The judges declared a Sahiwal cow named Sapna the winner of the competition. Sapna’s owner, Nadeem, received a cash prize. He said he had been breeding cows for over 12 years. Jamalo won the second prize and Fauzia stood third. “This is a great opportunity for us to show the animals to the public and for breeders to display their stock,” Nadeem said.In the competition for Neeli Ravi buffaloes, a buffalo called Mastani won the first prize, followed by Maharani who stood second and Lado, who bagged the third position. Earlier, several cows were disqualified from the contest because the judges deemed them overweight.
