Nabil Gabol rejoins PPP

The former MNA meets Asif Zardari at Bilawal House; expresses confidence in leadership of Bilawal Bhutto

Former parliamentarian Nabil Gabol, who left the Pakistan Peoples Party for the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 2013, has rejoined the PPP.

“Sardar Nabeel Gabol called on former president Asif Ali Zardari and announced joining the PPP at Bilawal House this evening,” a statement released by the PPP Media Cell said on Wednesday evening.



Gabol expressed full confidence in the leadership of chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Zardari, the statement added.


“I am a born jiyala. Differences always emerge within a family, but now we have re-organised the party in Karachi at gross-roots level, making it a true representative of the citizens,” he told The Express Tribune.

The former MNA from Lyari in Karachi had won a seat in the 2013 General Elections from MQM’s strong-hold, Azizabad's NA-246 constituency. However, following differences, he resigned from the party in February 2015.

Earlier, there were rumours he may join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf; however, since the last few days he was defending the PPP in public, and also announced to contest polls from NA-248 Lyari, the seat he won in 2008.

A member of an influential family of Karachi; the PPP leader has also served as a member of the Sindh Assembly thrice, and a speaker of the provincial assembly. He became a a federal minister for ports and shipping in the last PPP government.
