Karachi-wide: Heavy traffic banned from 6am to 11pm

Action against substandard buses will also be taken from March 20

KARACHI: The Sindh government has pledged to bar the movement of heavy vehicles inside the city during the day from Monday (today).

According to a press statement issued by the commissioner's office, the movement of heavy vehicles will be banned inside the city from 6am till 11pm. Traffic DIG Asif Ejaz Shaikh said traffic police of all the districts will ensure this.

According to Shaikh, alternative routes will be from Super Highway towards North Karachi Industrial Area while the other route will be from the National Highway towards Manzil petrol pump and Dawood Chowrangi till Godown Chowrangi.

The last route will be from the Northern Bypass to Paracha Chowk, Estate Avenue till Mauripur Jinnah Bridge.

Action against substandard buses will also be taken from March 20 by the city’s deputy commissioners. Public transporters have been given one month to obtain fitness certificates.
