Temperatures dropped across Swat in the wake of intermittent rain in the plains and snowfall in the mountainous areas of the district.

According to officials at the local meteorological office, scattered showers, which started on Saturday morning, lashed parts of Swat district until evening.
“The mild intensity downpour is lashing parts of the plains around Swat, including the towns of Mingora, Saidu Sharif, Matta, Khawaza Khela and Kabal,” an official said, adding that snowfall was also recorded in mountainous areas near Bahrain and the Kalam Valley.
The official said that the rain and snowfall would probably continue till Sunday.

Meanwhile, snowfall restricted the flow of traffic on main roads leading to the Kalam Valley, creating problems for people living in remote areas after all link roads were buried under snow.
