The awards were given at a ceremony attended by Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zafar Iqbal Awan at Chinar Bagh in Gilgit.
City police SHO Zahoor Ahmed and four of his team members were awarded Rs125,000 each for arresting Ikramullah, a notorious terrorists who was carrying a bounty of Rs50 million.
Meanwhile, Sub-inspector Murtaza Hussain and his four subordinates received Rs83,000 each for arresting Khan Wali of Darel valley in district Diamer. Wali, wanted for terrorism, was also carrying head money of Rs50 million. Cash prizes were also given to a dozen other officers for showing valour while performing their duties.
According to a police official said that these terrorists were involved in sectarian violence in 2011-12 and the assassination of foreign tourists in Nanga Parbat in 2013 and investigators probing the attack the same year. “We are proud of the bravery shown by our police,” said chief minister after the ceremony also attended by lawmakers and senior police officials
