Three ‘militants’ killed during shoot-out in DI Khan

Suspects opened fired when the police tried to stop them at checkpoint

The suspects were wanted by the police in cases of militancy, murders, kidnapping and targeted killings.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The security forces killed three alleged militants of a banned outfit on Muddy Road in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.

They also recovered suicide vests, hand grenades and AK-47 from their possession, said town district police officer.

According to the police, the suspects were gunned down after an exchange of fire. The encounter took place when the police tried to stop the suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, when they reached near a checkpoint.

The police claimed that instead of stopping, the alleged militants opened fired at the police. In retaliation, the police gunned down three of the suspects, while two others managed to flee, the district police said in a press release.

“All the three suspects were wanted by the police in cases of militancy, murders, kidnapping and targeted killings while Maqbool alias Mili was carrying a head money of Rs1 million, announced by the federal government,” the police officer said.

The other two militants, Shafi and Saad of Matti Dera area of the district, also have bounties of Rs1 million each.
