Encounter: Two militants killed in Quetta
The suspects apparently belonged to a banned militant outfit
QUETTA:
Two suspected militants were killed and a policeman was injured during an encounter in Quetta on Friday night.
The suspects apparently belonged to a banned militant outfit and were involved in the 2013 Meezan Chowk blast and the 2014 attack on the Jaffar Express.
Official sources said the armed men, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on a police vehicle patrolling the area. The police returned fire but the motorcyclists escaped from the scene and took refuge in a house.
Later, police traced them out and called in reinforcement. In a subsequent exchange of fire, both the alleged terrorists were killed. “They belong to United Baloch Army (UBA-Sarfarz Bangulzai group),” said DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema.
