Innovative idea: ‘Citizen journalism need of the hour’

BAHAWALPUR: The new era of modern journalism is linked with the promotion of ‘citizen journalism’ which would produce a vibrant and energetic journalistic community at the grass root level.

This was said by Arts Council Resident Director Rana Ajaz Mahmood while inaugurating a five-day media workshop on citizen journalism. The event was jointly organised by Arts Council and Interactive Resource Centre at Rasheedia Auditorium Bahawalpur.

“The role of media is crucial and decisive in winning the battle of ideas by expanding the scope of citizen journalism,” Aijaz Mahmood said.

He added, “This would expand the outreach of our media outlets by utilising services of these journalists.”

He maintained Bahawalpur Arts Council had undertaken the initiative to engage male and female students of various academic institutions to raise public awareness.
