On Thursday, a provincial law officer presented a report of the Sahiwal high-security jail before the Lahore High Court, claiming the authorities had released the convict.
The man’s mother denied the stance, saying her son did not reach home and neither did the jail authorities inform the family about releasing Adnan. She termed the filed by the prisons department ‘false’.
However, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar disposed of the contempt of court petition in the light of the prison department report.
Saira Khan had filed the petition, seeking action against the jail authorities for not releasing her son as directed by the court. Her counsel stated the court had directed the jail authorities to recalculate Adnan’s sentence, including government amnesties or remissions awarded to him and fix his probable release date.
