President Mamnoon gets driving licence

Mamnoon went through the procedure required for getting the driving licence like a common citizen

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain can now drive freely in Islamabad, without any fear of getting a ticket for driving without a license.

The head of state got his driving licence renewed from the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) office, like any other resident of the capital. Mamnoon’s previous licence from Karachi had expired and was renewed from Islamabad as per law after an NOC was issued by the Karachi Traffic Police that there were no pending tickets or challans against him.

Islamabad IG Tariq Masood Yasin and SSP Malik Matloob Ahmed were there to receive him at the ITP office.

Mamnoon was issued a token, 0441, and went through the procedure required for getting the driving licence like a common citizen.

Common Citizen | 7 years ago | Reply The president is so useless! -He closed down the ITP office to actual common citizens -Called all the news agency to report this "great act of humility" -The whole thing was done to remind/inform people that a president of pakistan actually exists Real ITP has multiple issues and complaints that are not getting addressed. Traffic rules in Islamabad are abysmal. Barely any traffic lights work, there are no lines on the road, traffic police doesn't enforce laws, people are free to drive without license and many more. The ITP has been called out many times for being one of the most corrupt organisations in pakistan. It is common in pakistan to pay bribes to traffic police who stop you for no other reason. What else has the president done of significance? How much does he cost the state?

M.S. | 7 years ago | Reply Rulers need not to show this kind of humility or simplicity. These dramas give undue publicity which only impress stupid. Their responsibility is to provide simple, easy, cheap and honest rules, regulations and system for common people. Nobody would say that they have done their job.

Because of this one common citizen, many real common citizens were denied entry to the office for their license applications, including me. I took a leave just to get my driver's license renewed but when I reached the office at 10am, I was told that the office is closed for public today as the president is coming at 1pm. As a result, I lost a day of work and have to retry getting my license renewed. It would've been appreciated if he had stood up in the queue 'like a common citizen"

nadeem | 7 years ago | Reply This is all very good, but I have the following question: how long was the motorcade that brought him to the drivers license office? 50 SUVs? 25SUVs? Less than 5 cars? If it is the last one he has set a good example, otherwise he went there just for impressing the masses.
