They resisted a Rangers’ operation to clean up Punjab for the welfare of its citizens
SUKKUR: Watching a video of the Lahore suicide bomber walking on Mall Road with his accomplice caused a strange feeling. The road was not very crowded and the two suspects walking down the road were watched by some vigilant eyes but not effectively. One suicide bomber easily reached the area of where the two martyred senior policemen were standing and detonated his vest. He managed to mangle several other innocent lives, too. In the video, the crowd fortunately looks to the other side behind a police lorry.
The contention that the protesting crowd took away attention from the terrorists’ prior warning about the attack is rubbish put up by the Punjab government. There have been many huge protests and public meetings without any damage or harm caused. February 13 was just an unfortunate and coincidental day. The Punjab government, since it is run dictatorially by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, being the brother of the prime minister, should take the entire responsibility for the loss of lives. Likewise, the interior minister should resign. They resisted a Rangers’ operation to clean up Punjab for the welfare of its citizens.
