KARACHI: At least three people were killed and two others critically injured when a car overturned on Lyari Expressway in Karachi on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred near Garden locality, within the limits of Pak Colony police station.

Among the deceased were Kaleem, 50, Saleh Muhammad, 60, and Faiz Muhammad, whereas the injured were identified as Abdul Haq, 45 and Naveed, 12. The bodies and the injured persons were shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Traffic accidents have become a frequent occurrence in Karachi as major roads of the city are dug up for construction.

On February 9, four people including three women and a child were killed, and a dozen others injured as a passenger-carrying vehicle overturned in Karachi.

The incident apparently occurred due to over speeding near the Urdu Science University on the University Road, which is currently under construction.

hasan | 7 years ago | Reply It has been point out several times that at garden interchange U-turn is under construction that is why the right side track should be sealed, proper instructions and marking must be placed ahead so that such incident would not happen again. Yet no action has been taken.
Sarah | 7 years ago | Reply Yes a partially constructed U-turn exists at Lyari Express way with no prior indication of it being incomplete ahead (at least barriers could have been placed before the end), must have been the reason of accident.
