Provisionally suspended batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif reached Lahore on Wednesday to submit their official statements to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding corruption allegations against them, Express News reported.

The Islamabad United pair were provisionally suspended last week from the ongoing Pakistan Super League and subsequently sent back to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates after they were found to be involved in a spot-fixing scandal by the cricketing authorities. They were also provisionally suspended from PCB’s central contracts.

Previously, both batsmen denied the allegations against them.

Meanwhile, left-handed opener Nasir Jamshed was arrested yesterday by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) alongside a bookie.

According to the representative of the NCA, both men have been released on bail and asked to report to the agency in April.

“Two men in their thirties have been arrested by NCA officers in connection with bribery offences as part of an ongoing investigation into international cricket match spot-fixing,” read a press release on the NCA website.

“The men were arrested on February 13 and have been released on bail until April pending further enquiries. As part of the ongoing investigation, we are working closely with the PCB and International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption units. The PCB has launched its own investigation which has resulted in the suspension of three players,” the statement further read.

Jamshed was accused of referring Sharjeel and Latif to a bookie, and has also been provisionally suspended from all forms of cricket by the board.

foosh | 7 years ago | Reply Please for the love of God stop all this nonsense. Stop playing PSL in UAE. Schedule it in Pakistan with lot of showbiz and glitter. Make money available. Every year offer it to international players. If they do not come one year and see everything is smooth and matches are getting broadcasted, they eventually will come. If you build it they will come. (line from field of dreams) Point is we are killing cricket in Pakistan and then calling murder a good initiative. Its only good for people making off it not the sport. Please people wake up
Feroz | 7 years ago | Reply Dubai and Sharjah are centers where all kinds of fixing and deal making can be done. That is the reason for their very success. Betting syndicates and well heeled pushers are an integral part of the mix there. Cricketers will always be easy prey for the fixers there.
