Search operation: Two ‘militants’ killed in Dera Ismail Khan

The operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday and the militants were killed in an exchange of fire

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two alleged militants were killed in an exchange of fire during a search operation in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday.

A security official, who spoke to The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity, said the security forces killed the two suspected militants in the jurisdiction of Darband police station.

The security forces received information about the presence of the alleged militants in the Sago village of Darband tehsil which led them to carry out the search operation, said the official. He added that the operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday and the militants were killed in an exchange of fire.

The official also revealed that the suspected militants belonged to the Qari Al-Shafiq group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The militants were operating in North and South Waziristan.
