SC takes notice of PPP protest in Sindh

ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court (SC) on Saturday issued notices to the government of Sindh, seeking details relating to the protest observed in the province on Friday against the court’s verdict declaring the appointment of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chief illegal.

According to official sources, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has summoned Sindh’s chief secretary on March 14 to explain the reasons for the protest observed in the province on the call of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The SC also sought details of the resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly on Friday condemning the court verdict on the NAB chief appointment case. It asked for detailed records of the speeches made by lawmakers in the Assembly on the matter. Notices have also been issued to the chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority for recordings of the coverage of the protest as well as of the resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly.

No one must cross the laid down parameters. Judicial heroism must stop.
