Police said Shumaila Bibi’s clothes caught fire while she was cooking food in the kitchen.
On hearing her screams, her husband Asif rushed to help her with their five-year-old daughter Ayla following him. However, they all were engulfed by the flames and suffered burns.
The neighbours of the couple called rescue teams, which shifted the victims to a nearby hospital, where Shumaila died while the condition of Asif and Ayla was said to be stable.
Police have termed the case an ‘accident’.
Woman kills self
A woman allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself in the head on a suspect’s persisting demands of developing an extramarital affair.
Police said 30-year-old Uzma Bibi, mother of five, lived in a rented house in Manga Mandi. A man wanted to develop a relationship with her but she had been consistently resisting his move.
On Monday, she was stopped by the suspect near Talab Sarai and once again to become friends with him. Instead, the distressed woman took out a gun from her purse and shot herself in the head, dying on the spot.
Burnt woman dies
Another woman, who was severely burnt by her husband who even rubbed salt into her wounds, succumbed to her injuries during treatment at Mayo Hospital on Monday.
The woman was admitted to hospital in a critical condition after the suspect set her ablaze in their house in Shalimar on January 18.
