The process of accepting his resignation was speeded up following PML-F's announcement of filing a reference against Ali under the floor-crossing clause, seeking his disqualification for 10 years. "He has won the election on our party ticket and joined PPP without tendering a resignation, so we have consulted law experts and will go against him for indulging in floor-crossing," said PML-F parliamentary leader Nand Kumar. Ali, who belongs to Sanghar district, is the second PML-F lawmaker to leave the party. Earlier, Imtiaz Shaikh also resigned and contested the by-polls from Shikarpur, where he won. The PML-F did not file a reference against Shaikh because he had won the election due to his personal influence.
Ali, who is a nephew of former chief minister Jam Sadiq, joined the PPP a few days ago following a meeting with PPP MNA Faryal Talpur.
