KOHISTAN: For the second time in a week, the Karakoram Highway was obstructed at two points in Kohistan on Sunday following fresh landslides.

On Friday, the highway was blocked near Lotar village when heavy boulders fell on to the road leading to the suspension of traffic on the main artery linking Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) up to the border with China.

The Kohistan police said that the rain triggered the landslide some 40 kilometres from Dasu at 6pm. Authorities managed to clear the road on Saturday.

However on Sunday, owing to fresh rockfall, the highway was blocked near Harban Nala and Samar Nala.

Police said that the Frontier Works Organisation has been informed of the closures. However, officials said that any work on clearing the road would not be possible before Monday morning.
