Trend Report: Citrus summer

With summer fast approaching, it’s time to step into something a little more vibrant.

What better way to inject a little spring into your step than an injection of zesty tangerine? This season’s must-have colour is the ultimate way to instantly update your look. Despite its brightness, tangerine is a surprisingly versatile and wearable shade. Go for classic pieces in colour-pop orange to give grown-up looks a dash of fun. Combine tangerine tones with other rich colours such as turquoise, fuschia and gold for an effortlessly on-trend ensemble.

If you don’t fancy working the head-to-toe look, then go for a more subtle take on the trend by combining neutral pieces with eye-catching orange accessories. It cropped up on the spring/ summer 2011 catwalks everywhere from London to New York and so look to designers such as Paul & Joe, John Rocha and Proenza Schouler. Given the endless lawn exhibits with countless designs and even more colour variations, pick and choose the right shade of orange that flatters you the most!

Paul & Joe: Sleek, Chic and ultimate in laid back luxe.

French Fashion Power House, Paul and Joe is renowned for their masterful tailoring and attention to detail and delivering an amazing selection of terrific wearable pieces. This season Paul & Joe have brought us 70’s glamour with a deliciously youthful twist. Their take on the tangerine trend is a perfect recipe for easy elegance with styles to flatter all figures and shades to suit all tastes. Go for show stopping style in their full-length, flowing jumpsuit or for something softer choose a crisp white blouse with just a touch of tangerine.

Proenza Schouler: Timeless, elegant and versatile

For summer pieces that pack a serious punch, look no further than hotter-than-hot New York based label, Proenza Schouler. The dynamic design duo behind the brand have taken tangerine and combined it with neon shades, scarlet stripes and bursts of black for maximum impact,  introducing color blocking with a citrus twist.

Added to ladylike looks such as twin-sets and simple shift dresses to bring them back up to date. A very fashion forward collection, guaranteed you so wear with confidence.

Osman: Beautiful tailoring, clean lines and minimalist

For those of you who wholeheartedly embrace last season’s wave of minimalism, the thought of donning bright orange may well be a little daunting. If it’s clean lines, simple shapes and minimal detailing that you’re after, fashion’s fastest rising star may just have the perfect piece for you. British born designer, Osman Yousefzada wowed the crowds with a collection that combined restraint with bold bursts of colour. His pieces managed to be both understated and eye-catching, and none more so than the designers unique take on this seasons tangerine trend. Softer shades of tangerine combined with fuss free shape and no embellishment in sight.

Iman’s Dos:

• Colour blocking, paired with clean lines

• Invest in a tangerine shirt or accessories

• Buy a bright pair of shoes, high street brands have a lot on offer

• Find the perfect tone of tangerine for yourself.

Iman’s Donts:

• Wear head-to-toe tangerine without the confidence to pull It of

• Pair tangerine accessories with an outfit in the same shade.

• Wear tangerine on the lower half of your body i.e trousers if you are curvaceous, bright colours tend to emphasis more.
