World Cancer Day: Minister urges corporate sector to come forward
Government has provided free treatment facilities to blood cancer patients and in the past three years

The corporate sector should play an effective role in eradicating diseases and illiteracy, said Punjab Minister for Specialised Health care and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique.
He was speaking at a seminar held on Saturday in connection with the World Cancer Day on February 4 across the world. The day also marked the 3rd anniversary of a joint venture of the Punjab government and Novartis Pharmaceutical to help cancer patients.
The minister said the government was providing free treatment facilities to blood cancer patients and in the past three years medicines worth Rs13 billion have been provided to them.
Four centres at Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi, Allied Hospital, Faisalabad and Nishter Hospital, Multan are working to facilitate registered patients.
