Rakesh Roshan urges India to 'move forward' as he welcomes Kaabil's release in Pakistan

Kaabil producer says Pakistan has opened its arms to welcome Indian content, Indians also must move up

As Rakesh Roshan's latest production Kaabil began screening in Pakistan on Thursday, the Bollywood filmmaker said Indians must also "move forward".

"Since Pakistan has opened its arms to welcome Indian content, Indians also must move up," Rakesh said, welcoming the news of the release of his film in Pakistan.

Screening of Indian films in Pakistan had been temporarily halted following last year's Uri attack and ensuing incidents escalating tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi. The strained ties had also affected the entertainment industries with Indian outfits banning inclusion of Pakistani actors and Pakistani exhibitors banning screening of Indian films.



However, the government recently cleared screening of Indian films in Pakistani cinemas and with Kaabil being one of the first to release after the self-imposed ban being lifted, Rakesh Roshan sees some hope.

"All I want to say is that if Pakistan has opened their arms, we should also move forward," Rakesh told IANS.

"The film was released in Karachi, Pakistan, last night with a 11:00pm show and it was houseful. Today, the film is releasing all over Karachi, Rawalpindi and Hyderabad with 3:00pm, 6:00pm and 9:00pm shows. However, the rest of Pakistan will open the show for the movie tomorrow (Friday)," he said.



Co-starring Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy, Kaabil is a revenge drama involving a visually challenged couple. In India, the movie released to a positive response.
