The petition was filed by Naimatullah, who had challenged the notification issued on December 19, 2016.
In the plea, he argued that the federal government had put these five autonomous regulatory bodies under the administrative control of the ministries whose activities and functions they were supposed to regulate.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Abdul Wahab Baluch, moved an application seeking urgent hearing of the petition. Allowing request, the bench fixed the matter for February 17 and issued notices to the federal and provincial authorities.
