According to an RCB spokesperson, the relevant laws proscribe the use of residential buildings within cantonment limits for commercial purposes. He added that under the law, the administrative body can seal residential plots and houses engaging in such activities.
The spokesperson further added that in this regard a summary had been sent to the Ministry of Defense for their approval.
The Building Control Department issued 103 notices to owners of residential buildings being used for commercial purposes.
It is pertinent to mention that a large number of illegal offices, educational institutions, hospitals, beauty parlours, shops and workshops are being run in residential buildings in these areas.
