LAHORE:
A book removes doubts and enables the reader to learn and receive knowledge, along with enabling the reader to understand new ideas through a different point of view, said University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid.

He was addressing faculty members and students of the varsity at the opening ceremony of a two-day UET Book Fair’17 organised on Monday by the National Library of Engineering Sciences at the UET.

He said the relationship between a book and a student should be strong so that he could explore new dimensions and areas of research.

“It also facilitates in-depth knowledge and new ways of observing and learning,” he added.

The main objective of the book fair was to get the attention of students, teachers and other professionals to observe new trends and different approaches applied in various sectors.

UET Chief Librarian Dr Ijaz Meraj briefed the audience about the book fair. He said more than 30 famous publishers participated at the event and offered books on discounted prices. “It is beneficial for authors, publishers and researchers to attract readers under one umbrella,” he added.

He revealed that the university library was being upgraded by including new books on different topics and increasing the number of e-books as well. The book fair will conclude on Tuesday (today).
