Botched robbery: Robbers kill taxi driver on resistance 

The men tried to rob the taxi driver but the victim was also armed and opened fire leading to his death

LAHORE: A taxi driver was shot dead during a botched robbery attempt on Ravi Road early Monday morning. The victim, Muhammad Yousuf, a resident of Rachna Town, was on the lookout for a ride when two unidentified suspects stopped him near Nabi Park, police said. The men tried to rob the taxi driver but the victim was also armed and opened fire. In the ensuing shoot-out, the victim and one of the suspects suffered bullet wounds. While Yousuf died on the spot, the uninjured robber fled the scene. Both the victims were shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors termed the condition of the injured suspect to be critical. A case (1001/17) has been registered against the suspects and police are waiting for the injured man to recover. Separately, an assistant registrar of the Lahore High Court also fell victim to robbers when he was deprived of his mobile and Rs17,000 in cash. Raees Zaman was travelling on a motorcycle when two unidentified suspects robbed him at gunpoint on Outfall Road.
