Child labour

Letter January 29, 2017
The prohibition of child labour is a great step so as to limit people from taking advantage of them

TURBAT: When I read that the Sindh Assembly has passed a bill against the employment of children below the age of 14, making child labour an offence punishable with a prison term and fine, I was relieved. Punjab and K-P have already taken some action against child labour, and now the Sindh government has also ban it.

The prohibition of child labour is a great step so as to limit people from taking advantage of them. It reminds me of Tayyaba’s case, who was not only exploited but also tortured. The violators of the ban on child labour should be given such punishment as to to set a strict example to others. I request the Government of Balochistan to follow suit and abolish child labour in our province as well.
