Empowering girls: Roots students sow seeds of hope

RAWALPINDI: They say if you educate a woman, you educate a generation. With that pledge in mind, students of Roots School System launched a ‘model classroom’ for girls of Government Elementary School, Kothan Kalan, Morgah, on Wednesday.

The young students, under their president Neha Omair of class seven, launched the project “Liberating the Girl Child Foundation” as part of International Women’s Day celebrations. They interacted with the students of the government school decorated the classroom with colourful furniture and fixtures which they prepared themselves.

The Roots volunteers have been raising funds for renovating and restructuring schools chosen as “sister schools.”

The speaker at the ceremony, who is the patron of the volunteer group, Khadija Mushtaq, announced to work in collaboration with Roots volunteers for the uplift of government schools.
