LAHORE: The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) will reintroduce registration plates for handcarts roaming around in the city, said Mayor Colonel (retd) Mubashar Javaid in a meeting held at Town Hall on Thursday.

He directed town officers to submit their proposals about registration of handcarts, selling commodities of daily use on city’s main roads. He further directed them to make sure no vendor parks his handcart on main roads and allow them to sell their goods on small streets in residential areas.

The town officers were asked to check building plans of wedding halls, particularly those that were built after 2014 and submit a list of banquet hall violating government’s policy to mayor’s office. He also instructed them to prepare lists of under construction houses, shops and plazas in their areas.

The town officers should make field visits instead of sitting in their offices and ensure provision of best municipal services to common man, he said.
