PESHAWAR: A senior police official on Wednesday advised the city’s schools to toughen security measures and strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order to protect themselves from any possible attack.

SSP Operations Sajjad Khan called upon school owners to hire properly-trained guards armed with automatic weapons.

Advising schools to keep just one entrance, he said: “Guards must be armed with metal detectors. There must be a biometric and alarm systems in addition to adequate lighting at night,” he said. It is important to maintain an entry register, to raise the height of boundary walls.

School owners and administrators also discussed various other security matters.
