KARACHI: A minor girl, who was raped, sodomised and then dumped near Korangi Causeway, has been shifted to a medical ward from the intensive care unit.

The spokesperson of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) trauma centre, Dr Amir Raza Abedi, told The Express Tribune, "The condition of the girl is improving with every passing day, however, we are not allowing anyone to meet her except the family."

Dr Abedi added that the six-year-old girl is currently eating the required amount of food she needs to make a quick recovery. He said her condition has improved and she is now able to speak.

Various tests have been conducted and psychologists will also examine the child's emotional state, said the spokesperson.

He said she will stay at SMBB for a few more days.

Police have yet to locate the suspects in the rape case.

Ibrahim Hyderi police's senior investigation officer Rana Munir said that no progress has been made in the investigation and the case is currently being termed 'blind'. "The child is better though," he added.
