Food & water issues: UAF joins hands with Washington varsity

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) has joined hands with the Washington State University (WSU), US for working together on issues of food security, water scarcity, human development and health problems.

WSU International Programme Vice-President and former ambassador Dr Asif Javed and UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar A Khan decided this in a meeting on held at the university on Monday.

“Universities are meant for speeding up economic activities with research, community services, trained manpower and industry-academia linkages that help alleviate poverty,” said Dr Asif.

He added that the WSU and UAF enjoyed longstanding and deep-rooted relations since UAF inception in 1961, adding the WSU professors had laid the foundation of its academic, research and infrastructural development.
