RAWALPINDI: The Airports Security Force (ASF) on Monday arrested an Afghan national at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIAP) for not having valid documents.

The Afghan national, who was later identified as Lal Khan, was handed over to the Police Station (PS) Airport officials for further investigation.

The ASF staff was on routine security duty when they spotted a man standing at the entry gate of the airport. The ASF staff took Khan into custody for interrogation.

During the interrogation, Khan failed to produce a national identity card or a valid residential permit issued by the National Database and Registration Authority.

He was arrested by the force and was later handed over to airport officials until further legal action be taken against him. Airport PS SHO Chaudhry Basharat confirmed that the police locked the illegal Afghan national up and registered a case against him under the relevant laws.

Basharat said that the suspect could not produce adequate documents regarding his identity before the investigators.
