Gunrunning: Man held for selling arms illegally

ISLAMABAD: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police has arrested a suspect for selling arms illegally and recovered two pistols along with bullets from his possession.

The suspect was identified as Nemat Afzal, a resident of Nowshera district, police said.

During preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed that he sold weapons illegally to different people on their demand. According to police, Afzal was arrested yesterday, on a tipoff provided by an informer.

The suspect was apprehended along with two pistols and ammunition. Case has been registered against him under relevant sections and further investigation was underway, officials said.

Senior officials have appreciated efforts of SIU team while SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has also announced to award commendation certificates and cash to the police team for encouragement.
