Weather report: Rain intensifies the chill in Lahore  

Weather forecast showed an active westerly wave affecting the upper parts of the country and likely to persist

LAHORE: The spell of chilly weather intensified after light rain in different parts of the provincial capital on Sunday. The weather forecast issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) showed an active westerly wave affecting the upper parts of the country and likely to persist till Wednesday. The Met Office forecast rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), north Balochistan, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours. Weather forecast for the next 48 hours shows rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills expected at scattered places in KP, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir while at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob, Islamabad and upper Punjab. Statistics showed 20mm rain was recorded in Layyah, 2mm in Jhang, Sargodha, Kot Addu, Kamra, Bahawalpur and DG Khan. Similarly, 1mm rain was recorded in Islamabad, 8mm in Dera Ismail Khan, Malamjabba, 5mm in Bannu, 4mm in Cherat, 2mm in Kohat, 1mm in Risalpur, 3mm in Karachi, Sukkur, 2mm in Moen-jo-Daro, Dadu, 1mm in Jacobabad, 20mm in Sibbi, 10mm in Khuzdar, 5mm in Barkhan, 4mm in Zhob and 3mm in Ormara.
