MIRPUR: The public-sector Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) is all set to confer an honorary degree of doctorate upon Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani in acknowledgement of his lifelong services to the Kashmiri people. “The Azad Jammu & Kashmir President and MUST Chancellor Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan will confer the honorary degree of doctorate upon Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu & Kashmir Chairman Syed Ali Geelani at the second convocation of MUST being held at the local campus on January 16,” MUST VC Dr Habibur Rehman said at a press conference on Friday. The VC said the varsity had invited Gillani, but the elderly Kashmiri leader would not attend since India had confiscated his travel documents. Gillani, however, nominated a representative from his organisation in AJK, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, to receive the degree on his behalf.
