HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the by-election schedule for Sindh Assembly’s PS-55 constituency in Badin district. The seat fell vacant after the ECP de-notified Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Bashir Ahmed Halepoto under charges of misconduct during the local government polls in 2015. According to the schedule, polling will be held on February 19.

Candidates will be issued nomination forms from January 14 to January 16 and the returning officer will scrutinise the candidates from January 17 to January 19. The revised list of candidates will be announced on January 28. The ECP has separately notified the regional election commissioner of Hyderabad, Aijaz Anwar Chohan, as district returning officer and Badin’s district election commissioner, Abdul Zubair Khan, as returning officer. The constituency is likely to see a contest between candidates of the PPP and former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza.
