PCB sets age limit for team officials

Board decided to not to have any team official over the age of 70

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has adopted a new policy of not hiring any personnel over the age of 70 for roles that are directly involved with the team, while even the appointment of prospective employees over the age of 60 will need direct ratification from the chairman himself.

Last year, the board replaced 75-year-old Intikhab Alam with 68-year-old Waseem Bari as the team manager, and that decision in hindsight appears to reflect the new policy.

The board has also compiled a list of eight former cricketers who will be appointed as the managers of the junior and senior teams in the future.

The list includes former Pakistan captain and 1992 World Cup-winning wicketkeeper Moin Khan, his brother Nadeem Khan, former opening batsman Shoaib Mohammad and former chief selectors Iqbal Qasim and Haroon Rasheed.

Furthermore, the board has finalised a 12-member pool of academy coaches comprised of Saleem Jaffar, Taimoor Khan, Azam Khan, Abdur Rahman, Masoor Ahmed Tanveer Shaukat, Sajjad Akbar, Shahid Anwer, Sabih Azhar, Iqbal Imam, Javed Hayat, Kamran Khan and Masroor Ahmed.
