LAHORE: The Lahore traffic police have launched an awareness campaign about the dangers of underage driving and road safety. Police penalised 38,000 underage drivers in the past year.

The department has been holding lectures in different educational institutions to spread awareness among youth about traffic laws, road safety and hazards of underage driving, Traffic DIG Mobeen Ahmad said. Pamphlets have been distributed among general public as well.

“The education section of the traffic police has imparted awareness among students and distributed thousands of pamphlets in last one month,” the DIG said. He appealed to parents not to allow their children aged below 18 years to drive vehicles. “Such underage drivers not only endangered their lives but also harm other people on roads,” DIG Mobeen said.
