SanDisk unveils world’s fastest USB flash drive

SanDisk’s Extreme Pro USB 3.1 can transfer a 4K video in less than 15 seconds

Who doesn’t hate when you try to transfer files from your USB to Laptop or vice versa and the dialogue box, for instance, says: “About 4 hours and 22 minutes remaining.”

But dread not, a company is claiming that it has the solution for this. The California-based manufacturer SanDisk recently announced the launch of a new solid state USB flash drive that is capable of transferring files at massive speeds of up to 380MB/s.

SanDisk, while unveiling the Extreme Pro USB 3.1 at this year’s Consumer Electronic Show (CES), said it is the fastest high capacity USB flash drive the company has ever made. The solid state flash drive has read speeds of up to 420MB/s and can write files at speeds of up to 380MB/s.



This enables the Extreme Pro to transfer a full-length 4K movie to drive in less than 15 seconds or 1,000 photos in less than 25 seconds.



The USB is housed inside an aluminum metal casing which protects it from everyday wear and tear giving it greater durability. It also offers USB 3.0 connectivity making it compatible with a wide range of devices, though some might prefer the newer USB type C instead.



The extreme Pro is currently available in two configurations that are 128GB and 258GB which give it ample space to support its high transfer speeds. The USB also comes with SanDisk’s SecureAccess encryption software and RescuePRO Deluxe data recovery software making it extremely secure and reliable.

SanDisk’s Extreme Pro 3.1 is available for pre-order now and is expected to be rolled out at the end of January. Pricing starts at $119.99 for the 128GB and $139.95 for the 256GB version.
