Renowned Pakistani architect Habib Fida Ali passed away on Saturday morning.
The architect reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage and was under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.
Fida Ali was one of Pakistan’s most distinguished architects and his experience was perhaps as grand in scope as some of the buildings he designed over four decades in Karachi.
He was the man behind head offices of National Bank of Pakistan, Sui Southern Gas Company, Faysal Bank and Shell. He renovated Mohatta Palace and designed The Forum shopping mall, CAS school and LUMS university in Lahore.
He served on the Master Jury for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and received many awards for his work. He was also a recipient of the lifetime achievement award by the Institute of Architects Pakistan.
Fida Ali’s funeral prayers will be held at Zuhr today and his soyem will be held after Maghreb prayers at Bohri Hasni Masjid in Clifton on Sunday.
