Journalist movement: Second edition of Ahfazur Rehman’s book launched

A second edition of journalist Ahfazur Rehman’s book ‘Sab se Bari Jung’ has been published by Awami Kitab Ghar.

It covers the journalists’ movement of 1977-78 in which a large number of journalists participated.

As many as 523 journalists, sub-editors and newspaper workers from Karachi and Lahore were arrested. The journalists who raised their voices against press censorship were tried by military courts and were sentenced from six months to one year in prison, and were beaten up as well.

Rehman’s book includes the ordeals faced by several such journalists in jail along with photographs. The cover has been designed by artist and cartoonist Fika.
