PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Secretary Muhammad Abid Majeed has set a two-month deadline for the district health officers (DHOs) to fix the remaining gaps in polio eradication in their respective districts. Majeed warned the officers that they would face disciplinary action in case of any negligence. If targets are unmet by March 2017, district health officers could even be transferred, he said. He underscored the need for sustained efforts to capitalise on the achievements made so far so as to give a last push against polio. Earlier, the health secretary was briefed in detail about the performance of each district with a focus on remaining challenges and hiccups in the eradication campaign.
