Victim was trying to take a selfie with his wife when he slipped and fell into the river

SUKKUR: A man trying to take a selfie on Lansdowne Bridge in Sukkur fell into River Indus on Wednesday night and drowned.

Asif Jameel, 32, was a resident of Christian Colony, Rohri, and was a Pakistan Railways employee. He was trying to take a selfie with his wife when he slipped and fell into the river. The police and rescue teams rushed to the site and divers started a search operation but had no luck.

According to the police, heavy fog hindered the rescue operation. It was very difficult for the divers to remain under water for a long time due to the freezing cold temperature, said a police officer. The search operation continued until late into the night.

Jameel leaves behind his wife and two children. According to his neighbours, the victim was very fond of taking selfies with his wife.
