Bollywood slams politician for sexist rant on Bengaluru mass molestation

'You have to keep petrol away from fire,' Abu Azmi reportedly said

As the Bengaluru mass molestation on New Year's Eve left India and the world revolted, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi, forever in the news for making cringeworthy remarks, blamed the way women 'dressed' for the attacks.

"You have to keep petrol away from fire. And if there is sugar, ants will come automatically to it. In today's world, the more a woman is nude, the more she is considered modern and educated," Huffington Post India quoted the politician as having remarked.



"Such things are on a rise in the country. Western culture is a black spot on country's culture and it should be stopped at the earliest. And we need to focus on our famous Indian culture," Azmi went on to add.

Soon, the Samajwadi Party politician came under scathing criticism from Bollywood celebrities over his revolting 'insights'.

Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan also strongly condemned the occurence. The 51-year-old actor said it was imperative to punish culprits to set a strong precedent, Hindustan Times reported.



“What happened in Bangalore was very sad. We all are saddened and feel ashamed when something like this happens in our country. Every state government should take a step for this,” Aamir told reporters in Mumbai.

“In today’s age, people who misbehave with girls think ‘nothing will happen to us’. When such examples come in front of us, that whoever did this is behind bars within 2-3 months, and continuously if we see this, situation will change. There will be fear among people, which is a very important thing,” Dangal actor said.
