Illicit weapons case: ATC remands MQM-London leader

Unlicensed weapon and hand grenades were recovered from the suspect’s possession

KARACHI: The anti-terrorism courts’ administrative judge remanded on Wednesday a leader of the pro-Altaf Hussain group of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-London) to prison in an illicit weapons and explosives case.

The police presented MQM-London Coordination Committee member Ashraf Noor before the judge and submitted that he was arrested in a raid conducted on a tip-off within the limits the Nabi Baksh police station. The investigation officer told the court that an unlicensed weapon and hand grenade were recovered from the suspect’s possession and cases were subsequently lodged against him.

The judge sent the suspect to jail on judicial remand and sought an investigation report from the judge on the next hearing. Meanwhile, the same judge also handed over an MQM unit incharge, Suhail Ahmed, to the police on physical remand for four days.
